For the record, this is my universe. I've been to this planet before, and anything you pick up, either I or the hospital here can treat. Nothing's gonna come as a surprise, and the sooner you fess up about whatever the hell you did to yourself, the sooner it'll stop being an issue.
They've got UT's at the hospital, but the doctors should know how to speak English anyway. Don't be an idiot if you get hurt.

[He knew they probably weren't going to be in port for much longer, and he knew they weren't getting out of here. As much as he completely understood where Jim was coming from in a lot of ways, he couldn't help but be a little mad at having this piece of sort of home waved in front of him. He could, in theory, have hopped on a shuttle back to Earth and just forgotten about the damn Barge and everything before the weather had grounded the shuttles, or tried to find Enterprise or something, but he hadn't. Instead, he was stuck knowing they were both out there, his Earth and his ship, but they were out of reach, and he was stuck here.
He didn't know where Jim was. He was keeping an eye out for him, but if he wanted to make a break for it, McCoy would be the last person to try and stop him. He couldn't shake the feeling that this was all somehow his fault, that if he'd just been better at doing his job on the damn ship - and he wasn't sure if he meant Enterprise or the Barge, sometimes - that they wouldn't be here, Jim wouldn't have been pushed this far.
Which was the other issue. Arya. He'd been willing to leave Jim alone and trust he'd be alright, but this whole fiasco made him want to keep an eye on his inmate more than usual. Apparently, Arya hadn't really given much of a shit about that and had given him the slip, and gotten caught by the police, but by the time he showed up to try and bust her out, Jesse had already done it. Jesse got to be the big damn hero, and McCoy had more or less thrown up his hands at that point.
Fine. He was a shit warden and this whole fucking situation just wasn't worth coping with right now, not after everything, not with home and everything this close but incredibly far away at the same time, and he didn't want to deal with it.
So he'd grabbed a communicator, headed for a bar, and devoted the rest of his time in port to holing himself up in a corner with some decent alcohol and try contacting home. Or, what had used to be home, anyway, but the signal was jammed and he was kind of feeling himself sinking further and further into a pit he didn't really want to drag himself out of.]

I don't think we've met, by the way! My name's Duo Maxwell.

But be careful. And if you think you've got something, get it checked out before you infect anyone else.

And I will! I don't think that many viruses can jump species, anyway, but I'll let you know if something comes up.

But now she was free again, and it wasn't like ion the Barge, she could find a Risan pub and even slip inside unnoticed, like she USED to be able to. She'd begged in whore houses and inns, and she'd been given ale sometimes. She intended to find ale now, only she found Bones instead, and stopped short. He hadn't seen her, she could still run away, ignore how miserable he looked. She could find another bar, and he would never know she was here, so he couldn't yell at her about something stupid.
But he looked miserable. And he - he was pack. So she climbed up into the seat next to him, eying his communicator.]
What are you doing?

Tryin' to make a call. [He tried to force the call to go through again and took another drink from the bottle of... he wasn't sure what but it was alcohol and that was good enough. His accent was more pronounced with the slur, frowning at Arya like he was torn between yelling and saying thanks for bothering to show up.]
What the hell're you doing here?
[Spam]
Why are you here? [She saw the alcohol, and leand toward him, just slightly, sniffing to see how soused he was.] Can't you call from the ship?
[Spam]
And he was less surprised by her presence here because she was young, and more because out of all the bars on Risa, what made her come into this one, and why was she bothering to check up on him in the first place?]
No, I can't call from the ship. [And that was more of a snap, because he was drunk and angry, and while not all of it was directed at Arya - it wasn't like it was her fault Jim was a fucking idiot and the interference kicking up meant he couldn't call home - a large part of it was.] If I could call from the ship, maybe being stuck on it would be less goddamn unbearable!
[Spam]
That didn't stop her from scowling at him for his words, though. He was drunk, and she didn't have patience for drunks, even when they weren't really drunks. So she snapped back.]
Then why don't you leave the stupid ship! You're allowed! [But her words are hot and angry, not the retort of a girl who doesn't care.] Then you can make youre stupid call whenever you want!
[Spam]
I can't leave. I go home now, and Jim dies. The whole fucking reason I'm on the goddamn ship is so that doesn't happen, which means we're both stuck here losing our goddamn minds until you pull your shit together and graduate!
[Maybe it wasn't fair to dump on her like this, but he was drunk and angry, and he was tired of putting up with her shit, sometimes. Which wasn't fair. Maybe that made him a shitty warden.] And maybe you don't get it, because 'a girl has no one' or some shit, but I'm not letting one of the only goddamn people I have left die as long as there's something I can do about it!
[Spam]
Arya was no lady.
She went cold instead, hard as stone, unforgiving as a weirwood.]
Everyone dies, [she told him, glare fixed on her face, and she was tempted to run out and leave it at that, but he was blaming her, blaming her for everything when she'd never asked to be here.]
Maybe you should let him. Then you can leave, and you won't be so weak.
[Spam]
Caring about people and not wanting them to die doesn't make you weak. Having people you care about gives you something to want to keep fucking going for, which is probably part of why you're stuck here! You have a family, you have people you could protect, but you're throwing that away to get revenge on the assholes who put you in this mess.
[He stopped for a moment, taking a deep breath and scowling at her.] Right after my dad died- [Right after you killed him, his brain helpfully added, right after you 'put him out of his misery' only for the fucking cure to be found like a month later.] My wife kicked me out, took everything I had in the divorce because she's a vindictive bitch. I'd give anything to be able to just get my family back and not have to watch everyone I care about die or whatever, and you're throwing all that away. Jim's the only person I've got left, and there's no goddamn point to being alive if you don't have someone to care about.
[Spam]
It's not mine either, she reminds herself, and clenches her jaw tight so she can scowl at him.]
A girl has no family, [she says, because she doesn't know what else to say. She wants to grab his drink and throw it at him and run off, and she's staring at it like she might do just that.]
[Spam]
You know, there's a reason Nymeria found a pack when you had to send her away. Wolves don't survive on their own, and all this is just gonna get you killed. [He dropped his head into his hands for a moment, sighing.] I don't know what I'm supposed to do with you, kid.
[Spam]
I'm not a wolf, [and she does snap, but at least it isn't jaws around throat.] And I don't need a stupid pack. I survived just fine on my own!
[Packs get you killed. Packs, and honor. Ned Stark had honor, and he died. Robb Stark had honor, and he died. She won't die.]
