[Hello again, Barge. This time, McCoy sounds a little less clipped and frazzled and more just grouchy, because he’s had time to settle in, but he’s still very :| about the whole idea of being able to just walk around on deck in the open air with space just… hanging out there. It’s a strange thing to adjust to.

I already got the talk about the ship not always bein' like this, and lookin' like it's about ready to get hauled off to some scrapyard, but is anyone else bothered by the fact that we’re wanderin’ around on a ship whose hull’s apparently got the strength of goddamn rice paper? What’re we even crashin’ into out here? It’s not like we’re tryin’ to navigate around some asteroid field.

I’m not sure what’s worse, havin’ your eyeballs pop in a real hull breach or come back psychologically damaged from some goddamned left turn that sends us crashin’ into whatever the hell there is to bump into out here.

And that's just how it is? And no one else's all that worried about it? What the hell happens if you fall over the side?

And how often does stuff like this happen?

Things like this where the Barge undergoes changes? Not very often. Normally we have seasonal changes, like leafs falling or snow on deck. Occasionally we'll have a breach event where the whole Barge changes, but I've only seen it do something like this four times.

Halloweens two years ago when we were invaded by demons, when there was the Borg invasion, the Blackout and when the Aztecs took over.

This doesn't bode well.

What happened two years ago?

Someone had a puzzlebox, and when you opened it, it created a gateway into hell. Only people don't know that. So, everyone started with horrid nightmares, and then it increased to seeing things out of the corner of your eye, like now. Then things appeared in mirrors, asking for blood. Eventually they obtained enough blood that they could come through.

Good god.

There's a reason why those of us who've been here a while are on edge.

And we've just gotta sit here and wait until whatever it is decides to bring the whole goddamn boat down around us.

We can be prepared. It's the best thing you can be aboard. If I were you, I'd start keeping some things on you at all time. I've got a full medical kit that fits into my pocket. [Among other things.]

How much time d'you think we have before it all boils over?

My guess it will be sometime around Halloween.

How likely d'you think it is we'll get volunteers?

I don't know, honestly. A lot of newer inmates don't have jobs. We'll see what happens.
