[Bones clicks on the video to show him sitting in his room with about five other fake, cooing tribbles sitting on his desk, in several different colors. The one you all saw a few days ago he handed off to Jane, but he got a couple more of them over the course of the flood.

But, at least he's an adult again, back in clothes that fit, and that's sort of good enough for him. Besides, the cooing is kind of pleasant.]

I've got more of these fake tribbles than anyone could ever want, thanks to that flood. If anyone feels like adopting one of 'em, I'd be happy to hand one over.

And Cat, I think we'd better talk.

[Spamalalamamam Arya is taking her tricorder, and heading for the CES. She may have tried banging it on a wall as she went. JUST TO TEST THAT DURABLE CASING.]

[THANK GOD HE MADE SURE TO ADD THAT FOOTNOTE. Bones has his own tricorder and is back in uniform waiting for Arya outside the CES. He gestures towards her tricorder when she shows up.]

[GOOD CALL SIR. She slows her approach, auto wary, even with someone like him. She does hold up the tricorder, though.]

I turned it on. [When she hit it against the wall. :V]

[He grins slightly and even manages a sort of laugh at that, glancing over at it to make sure it is actually on.]

You still want to open the CES?

[WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING she turned it on, okay. It's on. So there. But she nods quickly, and goes to the door, waiting for him to unlock it so she can push it open. If she doesn't smell snow, she will be upset.]

[And he does, backing off so she can push open the door and wondering exactly what part of her crazy ass world they're going to end up in.]

[Hey it's not crazy, okay. BE GLAD THEY DON'T WIND UP AT THE WALL. They're in the north again, and there's snow all around; it'll be knee high before long. Arya's face lights up, before she realizes and gets herself under control again.

She darts out, trudging through the snow with a quickness she learned early, and holds up her tricorder.]

Can it read snow?

[Bones is decidedly less nimble in all this snow, being from Georgia and all. Thank god Starfleet boots are pretty well insulated.]

Sure. Probably won't tell you much interesting about it, it's just frozen water.

[Man up and get higher boots, bro. She points her tricorder down, frowning at all those buttons.] But it can do it. How?

Here, see- [He changes the setting on his own tricorder and explains what he's doing, making sure she can see what he's doing.] Try it on yours.

[She has to lean up, on her toes, but she watches, and a moment later, she mimics. Okay, she can do that. She points it at the snow, and taddah! Readings! She smiles at that, and sloshes through to the trees. It gets waist high for a moment, but she seems to barely notice.]

The same thing for a tree?

Yeah, sure. [And he's following, a little more cautiously because hot damn, Arya, this is a lot of snow.] Just recalibrate it a little, like this-

[And more showing how to. See, look at this bonding, is this really so bad?]

[No, because you're talking about a machine. Totally safe topic. c: But she recalibrates, and gets tree readings. Awesome. c: She starts fiddling with the calibrations, glancing back at him.]

You should have worn higher boots.

I'm not really as well prepared for winter as you are. We don't spend a whole lot of time in the snow.

[What with being on a space ship and everything. :V]

[She opens her mouth to tell him winter is coming; but those are Stark words, and she's no Stark. So instead, she scowls at her tricorder - then scoops up a handful of snow, packs it in her fist, and lobs it at him.]

[Bones was busy trying to figure out just how much snow they were going to get in here and how dangerous this could potentially be, and therefore kind of missed the snowball until it had hit him. He laughed and brushed the remaining snow off his shirt.]

What was that for?

Because [winter is here] you should be prepared for snow. You still aren't.

[What this means to her is that he can't possibly understand Arya. She was a child of the north, and the winter, and the snow, and he isn't.] Have you ever been in the snow?

[He looks like a southron. And look, Bones: It's starting tosnow. c:]

Sure. Not like you have, though. [The significance of what she's saying isn't necessarily completely lost on him, but he casually leans over to scoop up some snow, pack it and tosses it at her.]

Still know how to make a mean snowball.

[She bats at it with her tricorder, and he gets a quick grin.] But you're not fast enough!

[This is now a snowball war, McCoy. I hope you are prepared.]

[McCoy laughs again before scooping up some more snow.]
