[McCoy sounds, understandably, pretty stressed out. The infirmary is constantly understaffed, and when some of the people who usually help out are the people who decided to get themselves killed/used as human(oid) punching bags this weekend, it means the issue's even more apparent.

That said, there's a professionalism to the bark, because McCoy does his best when he's stressed out and has ten million things he has to do. It's just also useful to have a staff of people on hand for when these things happen.]

I need anyone with an extra set of hands and basic first aid knowledge down here five minutes ago. We've got a lot of pretty banged up people and I can't be everywhere at once.

For anyone who isn't down here and needs help, don't keep quiet about it. I can send someone up with a stretcher or help you walk so long as you let us know where you are. And if anyone's seriously injured, call me down before you move 'em, you'll just make things worse if you don't know what you're doing.

[Merlin was only absent for the first three hours or so after port ended, which was spent alternately healing his own wounds, washing himself, freaking out and crying a little. While he's clean, freshly dressed and 'healthy' now - it's noticeable that most of his visible skin looks brand new - what he really needs is about twelve hours of sleep and a few days to recover emotionally. But he's not allowing himself either of those things. He's not leaving himself alone with his thoughts, with the memories of the dark and the pain.

And only Morgana saw him in the testing complex, as far as he knows. Nobody else knows where he's been these last few days. And if anyone asks he'll lie. He arrives in the Infirmary at a brisk, 'ready to hit the ground running' pace, his bag making clinking noises because it's full of potions bottles. He comes to McCoy's side.]

Sorry I'm late, Doctor. Where do you need me?

[McCoy had noticed Merlin's absence, and honestly was a little concerned about it. Had the infirmary not been so busy - or if Jim was up and around or whatever, not that he would be after a port like this, but an extra hand would've been nice - he might have gone looking for him himself to make sure he wasn't bleeding or unconscious on deck or whatever, but people needed him here right now and so he had to hope that Merlin was alright.

So he can't help the sigh of relief that comes when Merlin finally does turn up, and while he can tell there's something not quite right here, he's the last person in the world who'll begrudge you for needing to work when you'd been through hell, so he doesn't comment on it.

For now, anyway.]

Arthur's over in bed ten. Go check on him. [Despite still having a flustered, frustrated quality to it, McCoy's voice is surprisingly gentle, because he knows how shitty this is, and if their positions were reversed, he'd want to know where Jim was and how he was doing first before doing anything else.]

[Merlin bites the inside of his mouth for a second, because he knows enough about triage to know that 'checking on' people is nowhere near a high priority - but he hears the softness under the brusque overtone and he understands what he's being offered here. And he does want to check on Arthur, needs to, it's bad enough news to know he's here at all. He nods quickly.]
