[McCoy sounds, understandably, pretty stressed out. The infirmary is constantly understaffed, and when some of the people who usually help out are the people who decided to get themselves killed/used as human(oid) punching bags this weekend, it means the issue's even more apparent.

That said, there's a professionalism to the bark, because McCoy does his best when he's stressed out and has ten million things he has to do. It's just also useful to have a staff of people on hand for when these things happen.]

I need anyone with an extra set of hands and basic first aid knowledge down here five minutes ago. We've got a lot of pretty banged up people and I can't be everywhere at once.

For anyone who isn't down here and needs help, don't keep quiet about it. I can send someone up with a stretcher or help you walk so long as you let us know where you are. And if anyone's seriously injured, call me down before you move 'em, you'll just make things worse if you don't know what you're doing.

Don't take this personally, we've just had people try to pass themselves off as wardens before when they first showed up, and I'm not taking any chances with the medical equipment. It's the fastest way to tell if someone's telling the truth.

I take no offense. It is wise to exercise caution, though I am curious as to why prisoners would be allotted such wide parameters of freedom.

We pulled into port four days ago, the Admiral kicked us all off the ship for about an hour to make repairs, and when he started letting people back on, some hostile alien lifeforms calling themselves the "Vanquish" kidnapped a bunch of our people. A lot of people were killed, a lot were injured, and we need all the help we can get.

[He vaguely reminds her of Sergeant Kilowag, who often took to calling people "poozer"...though Aya had yet to learn exactly what a poozer was.]

How many, and what injuries are we dealing with precisely?

I'm not sure on the number yet, people are still coming in. Has anyone told you about the death toll yet?

I believe an accurate count has yet to be established.

No, I mean what happens when people die here. You come back with some lingering pain from whatever killed you, it clears up gradually over about the course of a week. There're a lot of people down here going through it.
