[The microphone clicks on before the video feed does, but after some relatively hard to hear grumbling about technology and how he doesn’t have time for this and he’s a doctor not an engineer, the video clicks on to reveal what might be a familiar face. Or, is, if you’ve ever seen Cooper around. Regardless, he’s wearing a blue Starfleet uniform, and looks a little tense as he adjusts the video and actually starts talking.

He speaks with a relatively pronounced accent - Georgian, if you’re particularly skilled at picking out American accents – which makes everything sound like a drawl, although again, there’s a certain tenseness.

He’s not exactly thrilled to be here. :|]

I’m Doctor Leonard McCoy, Chief Medical Officer on board the U.S.S. Enterprise, and I’m a warden here.

I’ve been told assignments don’t happen until the 15th and 30th of every month, so until then, where’s the Sickbay in this place? I’d like to talk to whoever’s in charge as soon as possible.

[Rhade had told him where Jim's cabin was, and even though he could have just been lying or something? McCoy was too distracted to really consider it or care too much. He tossed aside the journal and was in front of the door only a few minutes later, hammering on it a few times.]

"It had better be." [It was a grumble, and he didn't let go of Jim's shirt sleeve, but he took a deep breath and more or less forced the panic back, tearing his eyes away from the emptiness to look back at Jim.] "Good. I need a goddamn drink."

"That's also why I brought you here first. See, I know you so well." [C'mon, he's tugging you towards the pub now.]

[He lets himself get tugged, still trying to focus on Jim and not on the fact that THEY ARE JUST STANDING IN A PLACE WITH NOTHING SEPARATING THEM FROM SPACE WTF HOW ARE WE ALIVE, JIM.] "This place always look like some goddamn ghost ship?"

[Stop thinking about it. It'll be okay, promise :c]

"Uh no. That's a new development. Usually it's just Fallish this time of year. Maybe the Admiral's drunk, I dunno."

"Don't sound so concerned."

"I try not to think about what he does that often." [Look we're in the pub now, it's all good.]

[Thank god. Bones is going right for the alcohol and is literally grabbing the first thing he sees and pouring himself a drink because jfc can't even begin to process what the hell that was.]

[You had to see it eventually. Isn't it good that it was Jim with you and not some crazy person?]

"And I thought you hated the observation deck on the Enterprise."

"How the hell were we still breathin' out there?"

"Magic."

[That is just getting you a snort and a look before he is knocking back his drink and pouring another one.]

"I really wish I was kidding, Bones."

"Me too."

"You get used to it." [After like three years, you know.]

"Guess I'd better." [Or, you know, he can just hide below deck all the time. Right? Right.]
